Internships

The Harvard College Women's Center provides leadership development and mentorship as part of our undergraduate and graduate internships.

Through peer-to-peer education, our interns connect with and engage their peers on issues related to gender equity and gender identity. The Women's Center undergraduate internship is a year-long employment opportunity that will give you the hands-on skills needed to navigate various professional fields after graduation. 

Role and responsibilities:

Interns will help advance gender equity projects within our internship’s core components of education, community-building, advocacy, and research, including but not limited to the following: 
  • Serve as an ambassador of the Women’s Center by engaging with communities and partnerships across campus. 

  • Work collaboratively with interns from our partner Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) offices, including the Harvard Foundation for Intercultural and Race Relations, the Office of BGLTQ Student Life, the Office for Gender Equity, and more.

Committees

Campus Education Committee

The mission of the Education Committee at the Harvard College Women’s Center is to offer critical tools and frameworks to engage in the long-term and continuous work of reconceptualizing gender beyond the binary.

We strive to alleviate the burden of uncompensated education and representation placed on people with marginalized gender identities and create spaces for learning around gender equity through workshops, peer-led dialogues, and/or educational guides provided to the Harvard community.

Community Outreach Committee

The Community Outreach Committee creates opportunities within the Houses and Yards to promote social connections for students.

Community Outreach interns are responsible for supporting and empowering students to advance the mission of the Center in creating social connections in their communities. Community Outreach interns expand the presence of the Center in the Yards and the Houses through the First-Year Representative Program (Frosh Reps), the Women of Color Collective, and intern hiring.

 

Programming and Events Committee

The Programming and Events Committee increases student leader representation in matters related to their experience and increase dialogue and collaboration between the Women’s Center and students. Programming and Events interns are responsible for collaborating with student organizations to facilitate planning, publicity, and implementation of programming and initiatives to raise awareness of women’s issues through Women’s Week, Women’s Cabinet, the ART Grants, and social media campaigns.

Women's Week

Women’s Week brings together stakeholders in gender equity on campus for a week of programming dedicated to centering the intersectional experiences of women and gender-expansive people on and beyond Harvard's campus.
