Land Acknowledgement

We acknowledge that Harvard University is sitting on the traditional land of the Massa-adchu-es-et (Massachusetts) tribal nations. We acknowledge the painful history of genocide and forced removal from this territory, and honor and respect the many diverse Indigenous peoples still connected to this land. May we work together to restore this land. To learn more about the Harvard University Native American Program please visit their website

Reservations

The Women's Center has a lounge, kitchen, and conference room that may be reserved by recognized student organizations, affiliated offices, and proctors during business hours. To make a reservation request please send an email to hcwc@fas.harvard.edu with ideal dates, times, location, and size of group and we will try to respond in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Peer counseling groups, affiliated offices, and proctors looking to book the space outside of office hours for regular meetings must schedule and complete a non-staff training at least one week in advance of the first meeting in order to use the space.
  • Groups with reservations are expected to only occupy the space for the time of their reservation, therefore any additional setup and clean up time should be included in the original request. The space should be left in the condition it was found, or cleaner. The kitchen must be requested separately if groups intend to use it when they are reserving any other space. Please familiarize yourself with the following guidelines:
  • The time you have scheduled is the entire time you have access to a particular space.  We have other meetings that may be booked immediately before or after your meeting and you should a) not show up earlier than your start time expecting the space to be accessible and b) be finished by your end time so that the next group can start on time.  You should not drop off supplies before your scheduled time; please bring them with you.
  • Absolutely NO alcohol, even if some/all of your meeting participants are of legal age.
  • No smoking, including electronic cigarettes.
  • No animals, unless they are a properly identified service animal.
  • If you are cooking, please remember that the top burners will remain hot after they have been turned off.  Never put plastic, cloth or paper products on the stovetop.
  • As your group begins to finish up, especially in the lounge, please make sure you move the furniture back to its original position, COLLECT AND WASH any dishes used during your time in the Center (leaving them in the dish strainer to dry is fine), and put away all food that you used.  If the strainer is already full, please put the dry dishes away, or dry your dishes and put them away as you wash them.
  • Confirm that all appliances are turned off, ESPECIALLY THE STOVE/OVEN.  If you used the regular coffee pot, please rinse it out.  A fire extinguisher is located on the left hand wall just before you enter the lounge (under the light switch.)
  • COVID considerations: Everyone in the Women's Center space must wear face masks at all times and groups should not exceed 20 until further notice. If food is provided, participants are expected to remove masks minimally and immediately replace between bites/sips. The event sponsor is responsible for turning on air filters before participants arrive and turning them off before they leave the space.
The Women's Center reserves the right to restrict reservation privileges for any group that does not adhere to these guidelines.
