My name is Maria Maria (she/her) and I earned my bachelor's degree in Mathematics with a minor in Psychology and a nexus in Educational Policy and Practice from Mount Holyoke College. I have 6+ years of experience working directly with low-income youth of color in different capacities. Whether it was as a tutor, teaching fellow, coordinator, or mentor, I emphasized the importance of community-building while encouraging students to pursue STEM. As a first-generation student myself, I believe that the mentors I encountered in my undergraduate journey enabled me to find and use my voice to promote change both on and outside of her campus. I am now a student at the Harvard Graduate School of Education pursuing a master’s in Mathematics Teacher Education. I am thrilled to be part of the WiSTEM community at Harvard and hope to continue to build community and create a safe space for mentors and mentees to have long-lasting and transformative relationships. In my role as a WiSTEM Graduate Coordinator: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion will be at the center of my work.
